Nikolas Konrad Veratschnig

Nikolas Veratschnig grew up in Villach and came through the youth system at SV Feldkirchen before Wolfsberger AC took him on at 14. He worked his way through the club's ranks, spending two seasons with the reserve side before making his senior Bundesliga debut for Wolfsberger in February 2022.

His clearest statement to date came in an Austria under-21 shirt: on 7 June 2024 he scored four goals in a 5–0 friendly win over Scotland U21. That form ran alongside a broader international pathway that took him from the under-18s and under-19s through to 14 caps and four goals for the U21s.

Weeks after that Scotland performance, Mainz 05 signed him from Wolfsberger for a fee in the region of €800,000–€810,000, tying him to a four-year contract. Wolfsberger kept a 10% sell-on clause in the deal. In May 2025 he received his first call-up to Austria's senior squad, though he had yet to win his first cap at that level.
