Patrick Mortensen

Mortensen came through the youth ranks at AB 70, Amager United and FC Amager before making his senior debut with Fremad Amager in 2006, scoring once in ten appearances. A free move to Brøndby IF followed in August 2007, but with only three first-team appearances to show for it, he was loaned out to Lyngby Boldklub in 2009, a move made permanent that December. He netted between 56 and 61 times in well over 150 appearances. A free transfer took him to Norway's Sarpsborg 08 FF in the summer of 2015, where he scored 32 goals in 94 matches and twice reached the final of the Norwegian Football Cup, in 2015 and 2017.

Mortensen returned to Denmark in January 2019 on a free four-year contract with AGF Aarhus. He became the club's all-time leading scorer, with 106 league goals in 232 appearances, was named AGF Player of the Year in 2019–20 and again in 2024–25, and topped the Danish Superliga scoring charts in 2022–23 and 2024–25. He also set the competition's record for penalty goals, with 22, before it was broken in October 2024, and held the record for consecutive Superliga appearances by an outfield player, 122, until that too was broken in February 2026. The high point came in the 2025–26 season, when AGF won the Danish Superliga title, the club's first championship in 40 years.

In June 2026, at the age of 36, Mortensen returned to Brøndby IF on a free two-year contract running to 2028, describing it as the final stretch of his playing career.
