Patrick Sontheimer

Sontheimer came through the youth ranks at FC Ebenhofen and FC Memmingen before joining Greuther Fürth's academy in 2013, signing his first professional contract there in March 2017. He made his way through Greuther Fürth II before appearing for the first team, and it was a loan spell at Würzburger Kickers in 2019–20 that established him as a regular, with 48 appearances and four goals prompting the club to trigger an option to buy in February 2020 for a fee of €50,000. That season, kicker magazine ranked him the second-best defensive midfielder in Germany, though he did not make their Team of the Season. He stayed on permanently at Würzburger Kickers for 2020–21, helping the side finish as 3. Liga runners-up and win promotion to the 2. Bundesliga, and he had earlier won the Bavarian Cup with the club in 2018–19.

A free transfer took him to FC Viktoria Köln in June 2021, where he spent two seasons, making 71 appearances and scoring five goals while winning the Regional Cup Mittelrhein in both 2021–22 and 2022–23. He joined 1. FC Saarbrücken on a free transfer in 2023.

At youth international level, Sontheimer earned two caps for Germany's U17 side in 2014 and two more for the U19s in 2017.
