About the player
The goal came at the European Under-17 Championship finals in 2023: Rene Hrvatin scored against Serbia as Slovenia won 4-2.
Hrvatin came through the academy at Koper and was handed a debut in the senior side on 10 December 2022. He made one league appearance in 2022/23 and six in 2023/24 — seven in total for Koper.
In July 2024 he left as a free agent for Domžale . He played 37 matches and scored four goals. Domžale finished ninth in the Slovenian championship in 2024/25.
The right-back has been a fixture in Slovenia's youth setup, capped at U-16, U-17, U-18, U-19 and U-21 level. He has made one appearance for the Under-21s in qualifying for the 2027 European Championship.
On 9 January 2026 Hrvatin crossed the border to Croatia, joining Istra 1961 on a free transfer.
He has yet to win a club trophy.
