About the player
Rasmus Niklasson's move to GAIS came with immediate reward: he made his debut for the club in the Svenska Cupen and scored on the occasion, against Örebro. The club had announced his signing on 26 November 2024, a free transfer from Oskarshamns AIK that took effect on 1 January 2025 once his previous contract had expired, and he put pen to paper on a four-year deal. Since then he has settled into the Allsvenskan side, making around 38-40 league appearances for GAIS and scoring six or seven goals.
Niklasson, a right-footed forward, is a product of Sävedalens IF who went on to Bälinge IF, where he made his senior debut in 2019, before a spell in the youth ranks at IK Sirius. His path back into senior football took him through Dalkurd FF, where he joined on a free transfer in February 2023 and scored four goals in 27 appearances in Division 1 Norra, and then Oskarshamns AIK, where a similarly free move in February 2024 yielded eight goals in 25 league matches in Division 1 Södra.
