About the player
Raffael Behounek is a centre-back of Czech descent who came through the youth ranks at FC Stadlau, where he also made his senior debut. A free transfer took him to FC Wacker Innsbruck in February 2020, and he switched, again without a fee, to WSG Tirol that August. It was there that Behounek became a fixture in the Austrian Bundesliga, and he also won the Tipsport Malta Cup with the club in 2021.
In July 2023 he left Austria for the Netherlands, joining Willem II on an undisclosed fee that WSG Tirol confirmed had been paid. He wore the number 30 shirt and helped Willem II win the Eerste Divisie title in the 2023–24 season and return to the Eredivisie. His form that autumn earned him the club's King of the Month award for November 2023.
Behounek's contract at Willem II ran until the end of June 2026, after which he returned home on a free transfer, signing a three-year deal with Wolfsberger AC and switching to the number 6 shirt. He has since made five Bundesliga appearances for the club, along with one in the Austrian Cup. Behounek has not been capped by the senior Austria national team.
