Sergio Duvan Córdova Lezama

Sergio Córdova's career has run through more countries than most players see in a lifetime. He left Caracas for Augsburg in 2017 while still a teenager, a switch worth roughly €1m that took him straight into the Bundesliga. Before that transfer he had already made his mark internationally, taking Player of the Tournament at the 2016 Copa de los Andes with Venezuela's youth side, then sharing the Golden Boot contention at the 2017 U-20 World Cup with four goals and picking up the tournament's Goal of the Tournament award along the way.

Augsburg used him carefully, loaning him to Arminia Bielefeld and later to Real Salt Lake, where he scored nine times in 33 appearances. Vancouver Whitecaps signed him in 2023, and that spell produced the clearest team honour on his résumé: the Canadian Championship, won the same year he arrived.

From Vancouver he moved to Alanyaspor in Turkey, interrupted by a loan to Sochi in Russia that yielded no goals in ten games. A switch to Young Bois in Switzerland followed in the summer of 2025.

He joined St. Louis City SC on loan in February 2026, wearing number 16, and scored once in ten appearances before the move was cut short and he returned to Young Boys that June.

For Venezuela, Córdova debuted in 2017 World Cup qualifying against Colombia and has since been capped 19 times, featuring in both the 2021 and 2024 Copa América qualifying cycles as well as World Cup qualification for 2026.
