About the player
Simur Garfield-Reid was still playing academy football for Cedar Stars in New Jersey when New York City FC came calling. Within the same month he made his senior debut, becoming the youngest player to appear for the club in Major League Soccer.
Two months later, on 27 May 2025, the club moved to secure his long-term future, signing him to a Homegrown Player contract through 2029 with a club option for a further year. Three MLS appearances so far, without a goal.
The clearer picture of his form has come one level down. With NYCFC II in MLS Next Pro, Garfield-Reid has scored seven goals in 11 matches.
Born in Kingston, he has represented Jamaica at under-17 level, scoring three goals in four appearances. That form fed through to a first call-up to the senior Jamaica squad in October 2025.
