Al Thaid

Dhaid sits inland in Sharjah's Central Region, and the club that carries the town's name was put together there in 1980. Al Dhaid plays in the UAE First Division League, the second tier, and has never reached the UAE Pro League. It enters the President's Cup each season, but no league title or cup has come back to Dhaid, in senior football at least — the club's youth sides have had their moments, including an 11-year-old age-group championship in the late 1990s, and its shooting and table tennis sections have picked up results of their own.

The stadium named after the town holds 500 people. What has occasionally drawn wider attention is who turns out on that pitch. In 2021 Jeffrén Suárez, a forward who had come through Barcelona and later played for Sporting CP, spent a spell at Al Dhaid. Two years before that it was the Brazilian striker Fidélis who wore the white and purple.

Coaching changes have followed a similar pattern of reaching outward: Tahseen Jabbary, a Dutch coach of Iraqi descent, took charge in 2008, and the Czech manager Roman Nádvorník was appointed in March 2022.
