Atzgersdorf

The club started out in 1912 as the Allgemeiner Turnverein Atzgersdorf, a gymnastics society built to give local youth somewhere to train. Sponsors have rewritten the name on the shirt more than once, through Tecton and 7Drops to the current MADx, but the initials WAT survived all of it.

The men's team won the Austrian championship in the 1961/62 season, then spent the following decades outside the top flight until securing promotion back to the HLA Meisterliga for 2026/27. The women's side has carried the club's recent reputation. In 2018/19 they won the Austrian Women's Handball League, the first club other than Hypo Niederösterreich to take that title since 1972. They have not matched it since, finishing runners-up in the league four seasons running and losing the ÖHB Cup final on four separate occasions without ever lifting it.
