Avia Świdnik

The team at the WSK Świdnik aircraft factory needed a side to play for, and on 1 May 1952 that side took the field for the first time, beating Stal FSC 3–2. It started life as Stal nr 4, a works club named for the plant that fed it, and only found the name it still carries two years later, when a factory-wide contest settled on Avia — a worker called Wacław Kosz put the name forward, and the club took it up in the 1957 season.

The company link held for decades, through a spell as GPTS Avia after 2000, until the city itself stepped in. Late in 2016 Świdnik's council voted to set up a municipal sports company, and by early 2017 that body, MKS Avia Świdnik, had taken the club over to steady its finances.

On the pitch, the club's longest stretch of note ran through the 1970s, 80s and 90s: 21 seasons in the II liga between 1973 and 1999, with a fifth-place finish in 1981–82 standing as the high point. Cup runs have been rarer — a quarter-final in 1985–86 and, four decades on, another in 2025–26. That more recent campaign brought the club back into view: Avia won Group IV of the III liga and went up to the II liga for 2026–27.

Games against Motor Lublin carry the sharpest edge, part of what locals call the Derby Lubelszczyzny, also fought with Górnik Łęczna; the 2018 meeting with Motor pulled in over 4,000 people. Chełmianka Chełm and Hetman Zamość round out the regional rivalries.
