Aylesbury United

Aylesbury is a market town that hasn't had its own football club playing within its boundary since 2006, when the lease at Buckingham Road ran out. The Ducks, as the club has been known since that ground's shape gave them the name, have spent the years since finding a pitch wherever one would take them: Chesham, then Leighton Buzzard, then Thame, before settling back at Chesham United's The Meadow in 2017. The Aylesbury United Supporters' Trust took the club into its own hands in 2009 to keep it alive through that stretch, and the campaign to bring it home has a name of its own, #BringTheDucksHome. A bid to buy back the old ground in 2019 lost out to a developer's £800,000 offer.

The club took shape in 1897 out of a merger of three local sides, one of them simply called Night School. The FA Cup run of 1994–95 is the one still talked about, a Third Round tie against Queens Park Rangers lost 4–0. Cliff Hercules, who made 669 appearances and scored 301 goals for the club between 1984 and 2002 before going on to manage the side, marked that cup campaign with a duck walk celebration that ended up on national television.

Buckingham Road drew its own crowd in June 1988, when the full England side arrived for a Euro 88 warm-up and won 7–0 in front of just over 6,000 people. The record for the ground itself belongs to a 1951–52 FA Cup tie against Watford, watched by 7,440.
