Belenense plays too low in Pará's football pyramid to have earned an enemy yet. The Peregrine Falcon, as everyone in Belém calls the club after its mascot, had a debut season in the Campeonato Paraense Série B1 that ended in 23rd place and the drop, and only in 2023, in Série B2, did the club climb to fifth.

It began on 28 April 2021 as Grêmio Desportivo Carajás, a partnership between former Paysandu goalkeeper Paulo Wanzeler, businessman Sandro Santos and lawyer Keimeison Nascimento. By late 2022 Santos had bought out the club outright and renamed it Belenense.

Home matches go on at the Centro Esportivo da Juventude, whose capacity is given as either 500 or 1,000 depending on who is counting — though there are plans for a training centre and stadium in the Curuçambá district of neighbouring Ananindeua.
