The Campeonato Paraense Série A3 operates as the third division of the football pyramid in the Brazilian state of Pará. While the competition was established in 2023 as the fourth tier, it is widely recognised as the third division within the state’s professional structure. Organised by the Federação Paraense de Futebol (FPF), the tournament underwent a significant rebranding in 2025 to align with national naming conventions, shifting from its former designation of Série B2 to Série A3. The format has evolved steadily since its inception. The inaugural season in 2023 featured six teams competing in a single round-robin group culminating in a single-match final. By 2024, the competition expanded to eight teams divided into two groups of four, introducing two-legged semifinals. The current 2025 season involves twelve teams split into four groups of three, with the top sides advancing to quarter-finals. Promotion to the second tier, officially known as Série A2 but previously referred to as Série B1, is awarded to both the champion and the runner-up. There is no relegation from the bottom tier as there is no fourth state division. Recent history highlights a shift in dominance among local clubs. Pinheirense claimed the first title in 2023, defeating Paraense on penalties. Amazonia Independente secured the 2024 championship after the original winner was penalised for irregularities. Atlético Paraense emerged as the 2025 victor. The competition remains distinct from national cups such as the Copa do Brasil or regional tournaments like the Copa Verde, focusing exclusively on promotion within the Pará pyramid. It serves as a vital pathway for clubs seeking to elevate their status in the regional hierarchy, providing a structured route for teams like Altamira, Belenense, and CA Vila Rica to compete at a higher level. The FPF, founded in 1969, oversees these arrangements, ensuring the competition maintains its role as a stepping stone for aspiring professional teams in the Amazon region.
