The name on the team sheet in 1886 was Auckland Town, put together after a falling-out inside the Bishop Auckland Church Institute side that had played since 1882; the switch to Bishop Auckland followed in 1893. The light and dark blue shirts trace back to the same source — Cambridge Blue and Oxford Blue, a nod to the Oxbridge men who ran the Institute, and the reason everyone still calls them The Two Blues.
The FA Vase followed much later, in 2011–12, when they beat West Auckland Town 2–0 in the final.
Heritage Park, holding 1,950 with 500 seats, has been the answer since 2012.
