The senior team reached the 2. Bundesliga Nord for the 1976–77 season, finished 16th and went straight back down.
The U19 side plays in the A-Junioren Mittelrheinliga and won the Middle Rhine junior cup in 2017, then reached the final again in 2024. That run carried them into the first round of the DFB-Pokal der Junioren in 2024–25, where SV Wehen Wiesbaden U19 beat them 1:5.
The academy's best-known name is Dominick Drexler , who went on to 1. FC Köln and Schalke 04. Among the younger products, Mikolaj Marutzki and Julian Brodowski have come through the same age groups.
In 1999 the senior club signed the entire Cuban national team for the remainder of the season.
Sportpark Nord holds 10,164 and belongs to the first team. The juniors are usually at Sportpark Pennenfeld, a little over half that size, where the senior side also turns up for the odd cup tie.
