Braves

Three World Series titles came in three different cities before the fourth finally arrived at home. Boston won it in 1914, Milwaukee in 1957, making the Braves the only franchise in Major League Baseball to have taken the title in three separate homes. The 1914 run remains the strangest of the four: a team known as the Miracle Braves sat near the bottom of the National League deep into the season, then won 41 of its last 53 games and swept the World Series that followed.

The club took the National League East 14 years running, built around the pitching of Greg Maddux, Tom Glavine and John Smoltz.

The franchise itself dates to 1871, founded in Boston as the Red Stockings, which makes it the oldest continuously operating professional sports franchise in North America. It stayed there until 1953, when it relocated to Milwaukee, and then moved again in 1966 to Atlanta, becoming the first major professional sports franchise to set up in the American South. Truist Park , seating just over 41,000, has been its home since the move away from Turner Field. Ted Turner bought the club in 1976 and put money into its infrastructure, Turner Field included, at a time when the franchise needed the stability.

It traces back to a franchise that started out on the streets of Boston more than a century and a half ago, long before Atlanta or Milwaukee entered the picture at all.
