Caicara

Twice Caiçara has reached the final of the Campeonato Piauiense proper and twice come away with nothing, in 1963, 1990 and 1995, three runner-up finishes that never turned into the one title that would have mattered most. What the club did secure came a level down: the Segunda Divisão in 1963, plus the Copa do Bicentenário de Campo Maior in 1960 and the Torneio Irineu Oliveira in both 1993 and 1994.

The Lion of the Land of Carnaubas exists because of a shop dispute. In 1954, players and directors linked to the Casa Morais store fell out with the rival Casa Inglesa and with Comercial, the team backed by that rival business, and walked away to set up their own club instead. Comercial Atlético Clube, also of Campo Maior, has been the opponent that matters ever since, and the derby between the two carries its own name locally, the Clássico Coca.

Little in the club's history since has matched the scale of what happened in the 1991 Copa do Brasil , when Caiçara met Atlético Mineiro.

Games are played at the Estádio Deusdeth de Melo, which holds around 4,000. There is no club website, only an Instagram account, and the target for Caiçara remains the same one that got away three times: turning a runner-up finish in the Piauiense into the title itself.
