Cavalry FC

There is history behind the fixtures against Forge and against Atlético Ottawa. Cavalry FC took the field for the first time in 2019, one of the founding members of the Canadian Premier League, and marked that opening season by finishing top of the regular-season table — a feat it repeated in 2023. Both times the club came up short in the playoff final.

It closed in 2024, when Cavalry lifted the CPL championship. Marco Carducci captained that side from goal, a role he had held since 2023 after becoming, back in 2019, the first CPL player ever called into the Canadian national team. By the time of the title he had made 100 appearances for the club. Up front that season, Tobias Warschewski finished as top scorer with 15 goals. The first captain, Nicolas Ledgerwood, had worn the armband in the years before Carducci.

The scoring列表 tells its own smaller story from season to season — Dominique Malonga top-scored in that debut 2019 campaign, Joe Mason did it in 2021 and again in 2022, Mayele Bevan in 2023 — but 2024 belonged to Warschewski and to Carducci, the two men on the pitch when the wait ended.
