The stadium belongs to the Hamilton Tiger-Cats of the CFL, whose owner, Bob Young, put up the investment that brought a Canadian Premier League side to the city in 2017. The Canadian Football Association approved the club's membership on 6 May of that year.

He was named CPL player of the year twice, in 2019 and again in 2024. The one trophy that has eluded Forge is the Voyageurs Cup: a 2020 Canadian Championship final, delayed until June 2022 by the pandemic, ended in a penalty shootout defeat to Toronto FC, 5-4 after the scores were level.
