Chrzanów

Handball in Chrzanów traces back to the sports society TS Fablok, which ran a section under that name from the 1950s onward. When Fablok was dissolved, the game did not disappear from the town: the connection was kept alive rather than starting from nothing. Under the name Unimetal Recycling MTS Chrzanów, the club also carries the record of MKS Chrzanów, whose Polish Championship title from 1959 remains the high point of handball in the town.

MTS now plays in the I Liga, the second tier of the Polish game, at the Hala Widowiskowo-Sportowa w Chrzanowie, a hall built for 589 spectators. In yellow, red and blue, its players go by "Cabanie," a nickname pulled from the club's own initials. Against AZS AGH Kraków, the fixture known as the Derby of Małopolska carries the kind of history between them that gives an ordinary league weekend an edge.
