Djk Bamberg U19

A Catholic priest in Bamberg, Richard Feuerlein, wanted somewhere for the city's young people to spend their time, and took Don Bosco's work with youth as the model. That is where the club came from in June 1950 — a parish undertaking rather than a football project, and it still runs as an independent multi-sport club rather than a feeder for anyone bigger.

The name supporters actually use, Die Wildensorger , arrived much later than the club itself. It comes from Wildensorg, the district on the western edge of Bamberg where the club has played since 1983, on Wildensorger Hauptstrasse.

The senior side's climb through the Bavarian pyramid was slow and then repetitive. Promotion out of the Bezirksliga Oberfranken-West came in 2008, the Bezirksoberliga Oberfranken followed in 2010, and the Bayernliga in 2012 — where the club lasted a single season. The Landesliga Bayern-Nordwest title in 2015 put them back up; relegation in 2023 sent them down again; a second Landesliga title in 2026 completed the loop. The city derby with FC Eintracht Bamberg gives the season its fixed point.

Out of the youth setup, Mustafa Zekjiroski went to the 1. FC Nürnberg under-17s in 2023/24 and on to Würzburger Kickers in the 3. Liga in 2025. The partnership with 1.

The club nearly did not survive to have any of it. In 1964 the whole board resigned, and the members kept the thing going themselves — the same constituency Feuerlein had set out to gather fourteen years earlier.
