«Dodgers»
Dodger Stadium seats 56,000, more than any other ballpark in the sport, since April 1962.
The franchise itself dates to 1883 in Brooklyn, where it changed names repeatedly — Bridegrooms, Grooms, Superbas, Trolley Dodgers — before Brooklyn Dodgers settled in 1932. The name traces to the streetcars fans had to dodge on the way to the ballpark. The move west in 1958 ended the Brooklyn era outright.
Jackie Robinson broke baseball's colour line with the club in 1947, over a decade before the move to Los Angeles. Sandy Koufax pitched here through the 1960s. More recently, Clayton Kershaw, Mookie Betts and Shohei Ohtani have worn the uniform, and the World Series wins have come thick in the 2020s: 2020, 2024, 2025, after a long wait stretching back to 1988.
Nine World Series titles in all, twenty-six National League pennants, the most recent won in successive years. The stadium has taken on a sponsor's name for the field itself, Uniqlo Field, though Dodger Stadium remains what people call the place — the hillside bowl in blue, still standing where it was built in 1962.
