Dynamo Moscow

The stadium in Petrovsky Park that now carries the VTB Arena name is also the Central Dynamo Stadium named after Lev Yashin. In September 2025 Dynamo Moscow announced that it planned to leave Luzhniki and play its matches there. The move brings a rugby side back to the home of the Dynamo sports society it was named for.

The society is the reason the club exists. Its first match, in 1933, was played to mark the society's tenth anniversary. The club's greatest early run followed within a few years: USSR champions in 1936, 1937, 1938, 1939 and 1940, five titles in a row. In 1938 it added the USSR Cup.

Rugby league brought a second stretch of dominance. When the club played Rugby-13 it won the Russian championship every year from 1992 to 1998, and it took the Russia Cup in 1992, 2000 and 2001. That was in the years when the fifteen-a-side game in Russia was still finding its feet.

The recent story is a climb back. Dynamo won the Higher League in 2020–2021, after finishing third in 2018. In 2025 it took the Russian Rugby-7 title and the Super Cup, and it lost the fifteen-a-side championship race to finish with silver.

Away from the main pitch, the club has also won titles in beach rugby, in snow rugby, and in the national youth championship.
