Emodi

The current side carries a name that spells out what it once was — an Általános Iskolai Diáksport Egyesület, a school sports association — and it was put together again in the summer of 2026 rather than growing in an unbroken line from any single predecessor. Emőd has had sports clubs before: a Diák Sportegyesület from 1986, a fishing association from 1989. Whichever of those threads the football side traces back to, this version of the club is the one now on the pitch, playing in the Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County I. Division, the fifth tier of the Hungarian pyramid.

By March, that reassembled side was leading its division. It also went further than most fifth-tier clubs manage: in the Magyar Kupa it beat Maklár SE 3–1, then drew Ózd-Sajóvölgye, a team two divisions above them in NB III, in the third round — a tie the local press had already marked out as a Borsodi derbi before a ball was kicked.

None of that has yet turned into a trophy for the town, and the club's own history barely runs to a full season. What Emőd has is the ground on Karolai út, six hundred seats, and a team that spent this spring giving the town something to watch on a Saturday.
