Esch

Before 2001, Esch-sur-Alzette had two handball clubs competing for the same small pool of players: HB Eschois Fola, which had already collected 20 domestic championships on its own, and HC La Fraternelle Esch. Since then it has taken the Luxembourg National Division eleven times, most recently in 2023, and added ten Coupe de Luxembourg titles.

The closest HB Esch came to a European trophy was in 2013, when it reached the final of the EHF Challenge Cup. The run remains the club's high-water mark on the continental stage.

Tom Krier has been part of the club since 2010. Christian Bock followed a different path through the club.

Home games are played in front of just 1,000 seats at the Centre Sportif Hall Lankelz. HB Dudelange is the name that matters most: the two clubs have met so often in finals, and HB Esch has come out on top so consistently, that the fixture functions as the de facto national derby.
