Frederikshavn

Nothing on the White Hawks' calendar is watched as closely as the trip to Aalborg. The Pirates sit on the other side of North Jutland, close enough that the meetings are simply called the local derby.

The club itself began as a skating association in Frederikshavn, and it took a year for the hockey section to split off under its own name.

Two Danish championships sit in the club's history, from 1989 and 2000, both delivered under coach Jiří Justra. A Danish Cup followed in 2003, and a Metal Cup in 2020. The nearer misses in the league — three lost finals across 2008, 2011 and 2013 — outnumber the titles themselves.

Mike Grey's number 23 hangs retired after 864 appearances, the most anyone has played for the club. Among those who moved on, Frederik Andersen left as the first Danish goaltender to reach the NHL.
