On 24 January 2018 it merged with FC Sydhavnen to form Boldklubben Frederiksholm Sydhavnen, based in the Valby district. The new club kept the amateur character of both predecessors: it is registered as a breddeklub, a voluntary association under DBU København and the Danish Sports Confederation. For the 2026/27 season that means Serie 1.
BFS has no named rival and no derby attached to its fixtures; the line the club uses on itself, "Det er ikke bare fodbold. Det er BFS" — it is not just football, it is BFS — points to community rather than competition as the point of the exercise.
Home games are played at Valby Idrætspark, a ground BFS shares with the larger BK Frem and Fremad Valby.
