Gudme HK Women

Gudme HK Women carry the label of Fynske derby into every meeting with Odense Håndbold, and for years the sharper edge of that rivalry belonged to Svendborg TGI, until Svendborg merged into GOG itself in 2005 and left Gudme to define its Funen identity largely against the island's one big-league name. The club has never needed to raise its game to Damehåndboldligaen level to matter locally: it has spent most of its existence supplying players and results one tier below, and its rivalries are read that way too, as contests for standing on Funen rather than for the domestic title.

Founded on 19 August 1991 and folded into the wider GOG Håndbold structure, the club has since operated its elite women's side as GOG Dame Elite, a licence taken over from the original Gudme HK. Berit Bogetoft is the name attached to its best-remembered spell, two stints between 1997 and 2004 that included a bronze medal in 2003 and gave the club a player it could point to as its own even while feeding talent toward Odense and GOG.

Promotion has been the club's recurring story rather than the cup or the league table. Gudme HK went up from the 3. Division in 2016, then won the 2. Division the following year to become, at the time, the only Funen women's side sitting in the 1. Division. Relegation after the 2022/23 season undid that, but the 2. Division title returned in 2023/24 and sent the team back up.

Gudme now plays 2026/27 in the 1. Division again, back at the level it first reached a decade ago, with staying there this time the more pressing task.
