Guneysu

The İyidere Spor Salonu holds 500 people, a modest hall in İyidere, the coastal district next to Güneysu itself, and it is here rather than in Güneysu proper that the handball side plays its Super League fixtures. Güneysuspor grew out of a wider sports club founded in 1990, when the men's team finished runners-up in the 2023–24 Turkish Men's Handball First League and won promotion to the Erkekler Hentbol Süper Ligi for 2024–25.

In the following season's Turkish Cup they got past the group stage, beating Rize Belediyespor along the way, before their run ended in the quarter-finals.

That win over Rize Belediyespor was not just another result. The two clubs share a province and a fixture that carries more weight locally than most of the calendar, the Rize Derbisi. Beyond it sit the wider Black Sea Derbies, against Trabzon Büyükşehir Belediyespor and Altın Post Giresunspor, matches that turn a regional map into a rivalry table.
