Beit She'an Municipal Stadium seats up to 7,000, room for around 3,000 on matchdays when Hapoel Beit She'an play there. It is a modest ground for a club that spent barely five years at the top of Israeli football.
That single stretch in the top flight, from 1994 to 1999, still defines how the club is remembered. Promotion in 1994 under manager Elisha Levy, who returned to the job in 1997, carried the town into Liga Leumit for the first time, and survival in that debut season became the subject of a documentary, Beit Shean: A War Story, which won the Ophir Award for best documentary in 1996. The following seasons brought their own drama, none stranger than the 1998 match against Beitar Jerusalem, when defender Eitan Tibi was accused of stopping to tie his shoelaces during a corner and the club lost the game amid the row that followed.
The club that people watch today is not, strictly, the same one. Hapoel Beit She'an folded in 2006 and came back in 2009 after merging with Hapoel Kvalim Mesilot, starting again in the lower divisions in red and white, the traditional Hapoel colours. It has since worked its way up twice, winning promotion out of Liga Alef in 2013 and again in 2024.
The old local derby, against Maccabi Beit She'an, no longer happens: Maccabi was absorbed into Hapoel in 2010.
