Hapoel Mahane Yehuda

Neither Hapoel Petah Tikva nor Maccabi Petah Tikva has ever been able to claim the city outright.

The club grew out of the Mahane Yehuda quarter, a neighbourhood settled by Yemenite immigrants, and took its current name in 1950 on joining the Israel Football Association. The style of the 1960s side earned it the nickname Little Brazil: in 1964-65 the team won Liga Alef North and went up to Liga Leumit, the top flight, finishing eighth of sixteen clubs in its debut season there and reaching the State Cup semi-finals in 1967-68 before relegation ended the run in 1968.

Zakaria Ratzabi passed through the club twice, in the 1950s and again from 1964, before moving on to Hapoel Petah Tikva and the Israeli national team; the stadium in Petah Tikva now carries his name. Since that top-flight spell the club has settled into the lower tiers: a Liga Bet title in 1951-52, a Liga Alef title in 1974-75, and a return from the fourth division after thirty-five years when it won Liga Bet South A in 2012-13, only to drop back down in 2019.

Home games are played at the Zacharia Ratzabi Stadium, a ground holding around 7,000 in red and white, on the same streets that gave the club its Yemenite roots and its old nickname.
