The Swiss title came twice, in 1999 and 2000, and it belonged to TV Suhr rather than to the club that carries the name today. That run stopped when the merger happened: in 2008 TV Suhr, dating back to 1933, joined forces with BTV Aarau, a side whose own pedigree lay further back in field handball, built around the reputation of goalkeeper Charly Burger, to form HSC Suhr Aarau.

Aarau sits in the Nationalliga A wearing red and black, and its supporters have taken to calling the side HSC-Adlers. The club's fiercest test comes closer to home than the league table might suggest.

Among the players who have carried the club through the NLA years, Raphael Rohr's name comes up when talk turns to the side's recent identity on court.

What the club has not managed since 2008 is to turn either of those old TV Suhr titles into a championship of its own under the HSC Suhr Aarau name.
