Kaiserslautern II

The 2015–16 Oberliga Rheinland-Pfalz/Saar title carried the reserve side up into the Regionalliga Südwest, and it was the first league championship the team had won under that name. The two before it belonged to another era entirely: the Amateurliga Südwest was taken in 1960 and again in 1968, when the side still played as 1. FC Kaiserslautern Amateure, and neither championship opened any door upward.

The closest they came to something national was 1973, in the final of the German Amateur Championship, where SpVgg Bad Homburg beat them 1–0.

The cup has been kinder. The Südwestpokal came in 1979, then 1997, then 2008, and the second of those put them into the DFB-Pokal for the 1997–98 season. The draw brought them together with their own first team, and the second round ended 5–0 against the reserves. Three Südwestpokal wins and three second-round appearances in the DFB-Pokal — 1979–80, 1981–82 and that meeting in 1997–98.

The short trips matter more: SV Morlautern, a few minutes out of town, gives them what people here call the derby in Morlautern, and TuS Mechtersheim is the other one that gets circled.

The Regionalliga runners-up finish of 2008–09 remains their high point, and they are not in that division now. In June 2025 the promotion playoffs sent them back to the Oberliga behind TSG Balingen, where the 2025–26 season finds them still.
