KH Besa Famgas

In 2010–11 Besa reached the third round of the EHF Cup Winners' Cup, before VfL Gummersbach ended the run. The tie meant little in the record books next to what the club had already built at home, but it marked the club out as something more than a domestic force with no outlet.

That domestic force is difficult to overstate. Between 1996 and 2023 Besa took the Kosovar Handball Superliga title nineteen times, a run interrupted only occasionally and rarely for long. The championships from 2012 to 2023 came in an unbroken stretch of twelve, a period in which no other club in the country's top flight had a realistic claim on the trophy. The Kosovo Cup told the same story in parallel: fourteen wins across the same two decades, so that in most seasons Besa held both.

The club's roots go back further than the Superliga itself, to the Yugoslav Regional Championship, which it won in 1961 and again in 1991, the year before Kosovo's political situation cut off that path entirely. Founded in 1953 in Peja, Besa had already been playing handball for the better part of forty years by the time it had a fully domestic competition to dominate.

The long run of Superliga titles ended with KFR Rahoveci taking the championship away. Besa answered by adding the Kosovar SuperCup in both 2022 and 2023, its most recent silverware. The Superliga title remains the target Rahoveci's win put back in reach rather than out of it.
