The task now is simpler than the football: stay up long enough to make the return worth something.

The club traces itself to 22 July 1966, when the hockey section of Åsums BK, running since 1959, was dissolved and its players regrouped under a new name. Kristianstads IK has never gone on to win a league or a national cup.

Green and white were the club's colours from the start.

Among those who passed through the club, one name stands out for where he ended up rather than what he did there: John Tortorella played for Kristianstad in the 1981–82 season, long before any of that reputation was built.

Home games are played in front of 2,300 people at most, a crowd that gets sharper edges when Tyringe SoSS is the visitor. For now, the more pressing business is holding the place in HockeyAllsvenskan that took two promotions to win back.
