Mladost Petrinja

The exception came in the 1985/86 season, when Mladost won the Croatian League and then beat Zagreb in the promotion play-offs. In 1987/88 they reached the Round of 16 of the Kup maršala Tita and went out to Vojvodina on penalties; a year later the same round brought Red Star Belgrade, and that was the end of it.

What followed was a long descent. By the 2000s Mladost were in the Sisačko-Moslavačka County League, the fourth tier, winning it in 2004/05 and climbing again in 2008/09 as champions of the 4th HNL Središte B.

Founded in the summer of 1946 by Ivan Matanović, Mirko Kosmat and Franjo Ivičić, with Viktor Bernfest as first president, it started as Artur Turkulin, after a partisan fighter. It became Jedinstvo in 1947, then Mladost in 1950. Mladost has carried its present name without interruption only since 1962.
