MOIK

In 1962, a year after the club took shape as SKA Baku, it already held both the Azerbaijan republican title within the Soviet league and the republican cup. That early rush set a pattern the club has spent the decades since trying, without much luck, to recover.

The army connection runs through the name itself: Mərkəzi Ordu İdman Klubu, the Central Sports Club of the Army, shortened by everyone to MOIK, with the nickname Hərbçilər — the Soldiers — following from the same source. Red marks the home kit, black the away one.

Since Azerbaijani independence, the club's story has mostly played out in the First Division rather than the top flight. Promotion came in 2000–01 and again in 2018–19, and both times the stay in the Premier League proved brief.

The ground has shrunk along with the ambition. MOIK once played at their own MOIK Stadium, which held around 3,000, before moving to the Binə Stadium on the edge of Baku, where 600 seats are enough for what the club draws now.
