Nesebar had won the south-eastern group of the Third League that season, and the club could not fund the step up. The following year they won the same group again, and this time the money side held. In 2025 they came through once more, and the Second League place stuck.

The town on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast has had a football side since 1 January 1946, when it was called Chernomorets Nesebar. In 1949 the club was split in two, Dinamo and Cherveno zname, and only in 1957 was Chernomorets put back together.

Third place in the second tier the year before took them into A Group, the top division, and they went straight back down. The deepest run in the Bulgarian Cup was a quarter-final in 2008–09.

The side plays in blue and white and is known as the Dolphins.
