Nybro Vikings IF

The juniors managed something similar in miniature, taking bronze at the JSM in 1970 and 1971.

The senior team's own line traces to 1946, when IK Ymer began playing ice hockey in Nybro before merging into the town's sports club; the current name, Nybro Vikings IF, dates only to 2002.

Fredrik Olausson came through Nybro before his career took him to a Stanley Cup with the Detroit Red Wings; his number hangs retired at Liljas Arena, alongside those of Björn "Böna" Johansson, a national team defenceman with a world championship silver and three bronzes to his name. Lisa Johansson went on to an SDHL title and Olympic selection, and Jesper Jensen played for Denmark.

Games against Kalmar HC and Tingsryds AIF carry the label "Smålandsderbyt," and locals call the fixture "stekhett derby" for a reason that needs no translation. Viking Support, formed in 2004, and the older Vikingarna group bring that rivalry into the stands at Liljas Arena.
