The name is younger than the record. What became Perth RedStar started out as Joondalup City Soccer Club in 1992, was renamed ECU Joondalup in 1999, and only turned into Perth RedStar FC in February 2022, when it merged with Northern Redbacks WSC. That merger did more than change the badge: it brought a women's side with 15 league titles and nine state cups into the same entity, and gave the club entries in both the men's and women's National Premier Leagues.

RedStar Arena, the 2,500-capacity home ground on the Edith Cowan University Joondalup campus, has stayed the constant through all the name changes.

What has not changed is who Perth RedStar wants to beat.
