Posta Rangers FC

Kenyatta Stadium sits in Machakos, not in Nairobi, and that alone tells most of the club's story. Posta Rangers belongs to the Kenya Posts and Telecommunications Corporation, whose old ties to the Machakos area put the team's home matches in a ground that holds up to 10,000 people.

The corporation's ownership also shaped the name itself. Registered in 1980 as Posta Rangers, the club dropped the "Posta" for the 2012 season, playing simply as Rangers Football Club, before the postal identity returned a year later. Supporters still call them The Mailmen.

Nothing in the trophy cabinet marks the club out — no Premier League title, no cup final won, only cup runs that stalled short of the last stage. Promotion is the currency Posta Rangers deals in instead. They won the National Super League in 2015 to reach the top flight for 2016, finished fourth in each of their first two seasons there, and in July 2025 stayed up the hard way, beating Naivas FC 2-1 over two legs in a relegation playoff.

Defender Brian Onyango carried the club's name furthest, moving on to Mamelodi Sundowns and Stellenbosch in South Africa after coming through at Posta Rangers. On the pitch at home, the sharper needle has run against Kenya Police FC in recent years — a 3-0 win over them in September 2023 stood out — alongside the older, more local rivalries with Nairobi City Stars and Nairobi Stima.

The Postal Corporation of Kenya still puts its name on the shirt, and match by match the club keeps commuting between the capital that gives it its identity and the Machakos ground that gives it a pitch to play on.
