Rochefort

Rochefort spent the 2024–25 season in Belgian Division 1 (National 1), the third tier, having climbed there through back-to-back promotions. The run began with the Division 3 ACFF B title in 2022–23, which took the club out of the fourth tier and started a two-year ascent that few in the province of Namur saw coming.

Before that came sixteen years without national football. The club came back in 2019 through the interprovincial play-offs, and its first spell at that level had been a long time earlier: promotion to the national divisions arrived for the first time in 1963, and provincial football filled most of the decades either side.

The present club is barely six years old in its current shape. What is now Union Rochefortoise was formed on 8 April 2020 by a merger with FC Éprave, and the blue and white the side wears dates from that day. The name has been reworked more than once: an earlier merger, with FC Jemelle in 2008, was undone in 2016 when the club took back the name it had carried since 1939.

In June 2021 Rochefort beat Standard Liège 3–1 in a friendly at a point when Standard were a first-division side.

Matches against Union Royale Namur are known as the Derby Rochefort-Namur, and the history between them has been sharpened by Carlos Uhìa, the Colombian midfielder who drove much of the recent rise before moving to Namur.

Jeffrey Rentmeister arrived in 2020 as the merger was completed and has been head coach and sporting director since. He played professionally for KAS Eupen and Blackpool before that. Every promotion the club has won in this decade has come under him.
