Roskilde

The Roskilde derby has an odd shape to it: FC Roskilde shares a city with KFUM's Boldklub Roskilde, and the two meet as neighbours in a town of one football ground worth speaking about. That ground is Roskilde Idrætspark, in the centre of the city, and the club has spent its short existence trying to make the place feel like the home of the town's senior side rather than one club's borrowed pitch.

The stadium holds 6,000, though only 512 of them sit. The rest stand, which suits a club whose supporters call the ground Ørnereden — the Eagle's Nest — after the eagle on the badge and the nickname that came with it, the Eagles.

The one line in the record books belongs to the 2013–14 season in the 2nd Division, when Roskilde won 20 league matches in a row. The side plays in sky blue with white trim, white shorts and socks, and is back in the 2nd Division, the third tier.

None of that existed before 2004. On 19 January that year, three clubs from in and around the city — Roskilde Boldklub af 1906, Svogerslev Boldklub and Himmelev-Veddelev Boldklub — agreed to fold their senior football into one name, and the professional arm took effect on 1 July. The oldest of the three had been going since 1906, so what looks on paper like a club of 22 years is really the continuation of something a good deal older, playing under a badge drawn for the occasion.
