In 2019, the club that had spent the socialist decades as TJ Slavoj Šamorín and later TJ ŠTK Šamorín changed its name and crest again, this time to bring back what it had carried when it was founded: 1914, and the Hungarian roots of the town it plays in.

FC ŠTK 1914 Šamorín is not the town's only football lineage. A separate club, FK Šamorín, once also carried the town's name and later folded; ŠTK makes no claim to its history. What ŠTK built instead came in stages: promotion to the Slovak Third Division in 2009/10, then to the Second Division in 2015/16, where the club has settled since. A partnership with Fluminense, signed in 2015, gave the club a Brazilian connection that lasted four years before Šamorín aligned itself closer to home, becoming a feeder club to DAC 1904 Dunajská Streda in 2019 — a switch that traded a decorative link for a working one.

The closest the club has come to a genuine result came in the 2022/23 Slovnaft Cup, where Šamorín reached the quarter-final and held Slovan Bratislava to a 1-1 draw before losing on penalties. No league title or cup sits in the trophy room; that near-miss against Slovan is the closest the club has to a landmark.

Home games are played at the Mestský štadión, known locally as Pomlé, a ground holding 1,950 spectators with 750 seats — though plans for a new 5,000-seat complex at Šamorín-Čilistov have been floated without yet replacing it. The team plays in all blue at home, all white away.
