Sokół Ostróda

Ostróda sits among the lakes of Warmian-Masuria, and for a town of that size a football side still matters enough to keep the stands at the Stadion Miejski filling on a Saturday. The club traces back to 1945, when railway workers in the town formed ZZK Ostróda; the name changed with the decades, through Kolejarz and Ostródzianka, before it settled on Sokół in 1956 and became OKS Sokół Ostróda in 1995.

The best league finish came a long time before any of the recent titles: fourth place in the III Liga back in 1983/84. What followed was mostly a fight to get back near that level.

Cup football has been kinder and stranger. Sokół has taken the Warmian-Masurian regional cup five times, most recently in 2025/26, and used it as a route into the Puchar Polski proper, where the club once ran into Jagiellonia Białystok and lost 1–8. Better remembered locally is the run in 2020/21: a 3–2 win over Pniówek Pawłowice Śląskie before Warta Poznań ended it.

Paweł Dawidowicz came through the youth side before Lechia Gdańsk picked him up and Benfica paid for him in 2014.

Derby day means Jeziorak Iława making the short trip down the road, ahead of meetings with Stomil Olsztyn from the regional capital. Either way, it ends back at the Stadion Miejski, opened in 2011, where just under 5,000 can pack in for it.
