Spartak Myjava

Spartak Myjava had never played in Slovakia's top flight until the 2011–12 season, when the club topped the Second Division and won promotion for the first time in its history. Four seasons later, in 2015–16, it finished third in the Fortuna Liga.

That top-flight spell did not last. In December 2016 the club withdrew from the league mid-season under financial strain. It took until 2020–21, with the Third Division (West) title, to work its way back toward the Second Division.

The club traces back to 1920, founded in Myjava as Športový klub Myjava under its first president, Samuel Vráblica; through the socialist era it played as TJ Spartak Myjava.

Against FK Senica, the club plays the Záhorie–Kopanice derby. The first meeting between the two in the top division came on 24 August 2012, and Myjava won it 1–0.

Martin Černáček wore the captain's armband through the club's years in the top flight, while Roman Častulín holds a smaller but permanent line in the record: he scored Myjava's first-ever goal in the Super Liga in 2012.

The women's side has kept the club's name in the honours lists more recently, taking the Slovak Women's Cup in the 2024/25 season.
