Tiszafüredi VSE spend this season in the northeast group of NB III, the third tier, still living off the shock of the previous autumn: a Magyar Kupa tie against Ferencvárosi TC, played out in front of roughly 2,000 people who packed a ground with only 600 permanent seats, extra stands put up for the night. The home side lost 2–1 on 31 October 2024, but the scoreline mattered less than the fact that a club from a town on the shore of Lake Tisza had drawn one of Hungary's biggest names to Szőlősi út at all.

The club's ceiling remains the 1995–96 season, when it won the NB III Alföld group and went up to NB II for the only time in its history, finishing 14th in the Eastern Group the following year before coming back down. Since then its currency has been the county title: Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok's First Division, claimed six times, including five in a row between 2013 and 2017, a run built on staying power rather than a single golden generation.

Names have come and gone through the team in recent seasons — Svékus Olivér kept goal on loan from Újpest in 2024/25 — but the club itself has changed identity more often than any player has worn its shirt. Founded in 1913, it played under a string of different banners over the following decades, from Tiszafüredi TC through Petőfi SK, Bástya SK and Spartacus, before settling on Városi Sportegyesület. Whatever the name on the badge, the crest in dark blue and yellow has stood for the same football club by the river for more than a century.
