Tonder

TM Tønder Håndbold, known locally as TMT, grew out of a 1998 merger between Tønder SF Håndbold and Møgeltønder UIF, playing first under the name HF Vest Sønderjylland before the club settled on Team Møgeltønder Tønder two years later.

The region already had a bigger name in SønderjyskE, and between 2004 and 2006 TMT's men's team fell under that umbrella. It did not last: when plans surfaced to shift home games away to Sønderborg, Tønder pulled out and went back to running its own side, in red and blue, out of Hal 2 at Tønderhallen, which holds 1,500.

Promotion to the Håndboldligaen came for the first time in 2016. TMT stayed up for one season, finishing 13th, then had to see off Skive fH in the relegation playoffs before going down for good in 2018. SønderjyskE remains the club Tønder measures itself against.

Sporting director Steen Thomsen has overseen Projekt 26, launched in the 2023-24 season with one target written into its name: promotion back to the top flight by 2026.
