Třinec

Three communities in one town went their own way at first: Polish workers put together KS Siła Trzyniec, the German diaspora answered with DSV Trzynietz, and by 1923 the Czech side had its own club too, SK Třinec.

By 1937 the club had taken the name SK TŽ Třinec, tying it directly to the Třinec Iron and Steel Works. After 1948, under the new communist sports structure, the Polish and Czech clubs were merged outright, and through the 1950s the name changed almost every few years — Sokol Železárny Třinec, then TŽ Třinec, then DSO Baník Třinec, then TJ TŽ Třinec. It held again as SK Železárny Třinec once the Velvet Revolution had passed. Fotbal Třinec followed in 2000, and the club has gone by the simpler FK Třinec since 2022.

On the pitch, the club's ceiling has been the Czechoslovak first division, reached in 1963/64 and again across a run from 1970 to 1976; since then it has mostly worked the lower tiers, chasing promotion rather than holding top-flight status. The 2012/13 Moravian-Silesian league title sent them back up to the second-tier national league.

Red and white are the club's colours, and the Silesian White Ballet.
